On Wednesday the 10th we will be flying to Boston for a vacation. The more I learn about Boston the more excited I get. According to someone I work with, who has travelled the world, Boston is her favorite city.

We are going because Jim won two tickets on Southwest Airline anywhere it flies. At first we were going to go to Hawaii, but Southwest stopped going there in June. The tickets are only good for a year and time is running out.

These free tickets will end up costing us a lot of money. I think it will be worth it. :)

I lived in Boston for three years and LOVED it. I highly recommend: Italian restaurants in the North End, the Institute of Contemporary Art (it's in a great new building that I haven't seen yet), Paul Revere's house, the MFA (currently there's an exhibit on Art Nouveau jewelry), and right next door, the Isabella Stewart Gardener museum. I used to work on Charles Street, which has lots of great antique stores and is a part of 'old Boston.' There are some fun walking tours, too, that should be easy to find online or in person--there are some fabulous 18th-century cemeteries right in town. The aquarium is pretty good, too. Have fun!!!!

Thank you for the ideas. The more I hear and read about Boston the happier I get. It will be worth putting my oversized self into a little SWAir seat.

I love Boston too and was going to recommend the Isabella Stewart Gardner, but see someone beat me to it. The public library has Edwin Austin Abbey murals that are spectacular, so that is a must-see as well.
